True Hip-hop trailblazers since 1991, Arrested Development has been cultural champions of consciousness and empowerment across the planet. Their representation of eclectic and vibrant African sounds and clothing has produced a unique clash of rhythms and style that continue to contrast the expected look and sound of Hip-hop culture.
Arrested Development’s debut album, 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life of…, earned multiple honors, including two Grammy Awards, MTV Awards, a Soul Train Music Award, and an NAACP Image Award. They were named Rolling Stone’s Band of the Year in 1992, and their hit “Tennessee” was recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.
Known for music rooted in self-reflection and social awareness, the group continued that legacy with their 2024 double album, Bullets in the Chamber, featuring an impressive lineup of guest artists.
Now, the focus is on their latest project, Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop, executive produced by Speech. The new singles, “All I See Is Melanin” and “Pack It Out,” are out now, showcasing the powerful lyricism and soulful storytelling that define Arrested Development.
