50th Anniversary of Teenage Depression

EDDIE AND THE HOT RODS

Eddie and the Hot Rods return to the capital to mark the 50th anniversary of their seminal debut, Teenage Depression.

Released in 1976, it bottled the raw urgency that helped shape a generation. Loud, fast and unapologetically direct, it bridged the gap between pub rock grit and the belligerent first wave of punk.

To celebrate the milestone, founding drummer Steve Nicol returns to the kit, driving the attack that made the band such a vital force in the late ’70s.

From sweat-soaked London pubs to stages across the US and Europe, Eddie and the Hot Rods built a reputation on ferocious live shows that matched the moment and pushed it forward.

For this special night, the current Guardians of the Legacy - on record and in reality - are joined by their original beat-keeper to rewind to 1976, to when Eddie and the Hot Rods first kicked the door down with a sound that hit like a punch in the guts.

THREATS

Support on the night comes from Threats, frontline veterans of Scotland’s late ’70s punk explosion. Inspired by the raw energy and defiance of pioneers like the Sex Pistols and The Clash, the Dalkeith upstarts found their voice in the early ’80s when punk’s second wave hit with a harder edge, burning intensity and a more confrontational pulse.

Their catalogue deals in street punk’s core currency - raw guitars, shouted truths and zero compromise. Tracks like Go to Hell and Politicians and Ministers are biting two-minute manifestos aimed at authority and self-serving power. Pacivity is a sharp slap at complacency, while Underground Army is a defiant reminder that street punk still matters.

From opening the legendary Gathering of the Clans at the Glasgow Apollo in 1982 to a live set recorded at New York’s CBGB’s in 2002, Threats carry unquestioned pedigree. They don’t just play punk - they live it.

If you believe punk should still feel dangerous, Threats are the weapon lying on the table.
